Worldpeace DMT y The Femcels habitan la última pantalla del desencanto. Estos dos vibrantes proyectos del subsuelo londinense, representantes de una caótica escena post-hyperpop a la que también podemos asociar a Bassvictim o fakemink, hacen música que suena amargamente eufórica. Si escuchas con atención, percibes que en su fiesta no están celebrando que tienen todas sus necesidades básicas cubiertas sino que ya no tienen absolutamente nada que perder. Una engañosa liberación definitiva. Un mood generacional inquietante: ese poptimism es la fase final del desengaño.

Worldpeace DMT es Leo Fincham y The Femcels son Rowan Miles y Gabriella Turton, aunque poco o nada se sabe de ellos aparte de sus nombres (si es que esos son sus nombres reales) porque sus propuestas sonoras y visuales están recubiertas de tantas capas de ironía y humor absurdo que seguirles el rastro resulta imposible. Exponerse a su electro-pop escacharrado libera, pero también aturde: a menudo sus canciones suenan como uno de esos archivos MP3 descargados defectuosamente en el internet de 2010.

Todavía con el primer álbum de The Femcels reciente, apenas un año después de que Fincham y Miles se unieran en el disco colaborativo The Velvet Underground & Rowan, ambos proyectos compartirán cartel en Madrid y Barcelona: el 24 de mayo actuarán en Siroco y el 25 de mayo en LAUT en una gira coproducida por Primavera Sound y OVAL.

Worldpeace DMT and The Femcels inhabit the final frontier of disillusionment. These two vibrant projects from the London underground, representatives of a chaotic post-hyperpop scene with which we might also associate Bassvictim and fakemink, make music that sounds bitterly euphoric. If you listen carefully, you’ll realise that they aren’t celebrating that all their basic needs are met, but rather that they have absolutely nothing left to lose. A misleading, absolute liberation. A disturbing generational mood: that poptimism is the final stage of disillusionment.

Worldpeace DMT is Leo Fincham and The Femcels are Rowan Miles and Gabriella Turton, though little or nothing is known about them apart from their names (if those are even their real names) because their sound and visual concepts are coated in so many layers of irony and absurd humour that tracking them down is impossible. Exposing oneself to their jumbled electro-pop is liberating, but also bewildering: their songs often sound like one of those MP3 files downloaded with glitches from the internet of 2010.

With The Femcels’ debut album still very recent, barely a year after Fincham and Miles joined forces on the collaborative album *The Velvet Underground & Rowan*, both projects will share the bill in Madrid and Barcelona: on 24th May they will perform at Siroco and on 25th May at LAUT on a tour co-produced by Primavera Sound and OVAL.
